Loon Woman linocut print

from $65.00

This handcrafted linocut is inspired by the loon—its wild beauty, haunting call, and the ancient stories woven around it. In North American Indigenous folklore, Loon Woman is sometimes a keeper and witness to grief, a role that echoes the mournful, otherworldly quality of the loon's call. That mythology became part of the inspiration for this piece, but at its heart is the loon's beauty and mystery itself: a creature that seems to belong as much to the cosmos as to the lake. Its striking black-and-white plumage evokes stars scattered across its back and wings. On a quiet night in loon country, there seem to be three skies—the stars above, their reflections on the water, and the stars scattered across the loon’s back. Its call becomes the thread between them.

A thoughtfully handmade heirloom keepsake for the soul who hears something ancient and familiar in the loon’s call, and wants to bring a little of that wildness home.
