This is a handcrafted linocut print inspired by the Dragon and Phoenix - a mythical creature pairing from ancient Vietnam shaped by folklore, land, and transformation. The Phoenix moves as a shifting, many-bodied being (including turtle, heron, snake, goose, swallow) a weaving of identities in motion. The Dragon, rises as river, sky, storm, and earth-current, a creature that holds the balance, rather than dominance. Born from an ancient threshold landscape that echoes these multiplicities: salt and freshwater estuaries, coastal marshes, braided rivers and mangroves—a fluid coastal ecotone where two ecosystems continually became one another. Together the couple and their courtship embodies the ecotonal mythos of the fertile evolving landscape from which they arise, offering a timeless response to life's deepest questions: How do we keep company with change as it passes through us, remaking what we thought we were? How do we dwell within the creative tension between self and other, difference and belonging, so that we might continue to flourish within the living tensions of our fractured world?
