Bird Woman 8" x 9"
Bird Woman 8" x 9"
This is an original handmade linocut print inspired by bird women, aerial heroines, and folktales about women as birds from around the world. Across cultures and histories, we find a persistent connection between birds and fierce, powerful womanhood, including figures like the Norse Valkyries, or Hindu apsaras, or feathered folk and mythic heroines like the Alpine goose goddess Perchta, Japanese Crane Wife, or Greek Goddess Athena. Flight, whether by broomstick, wing, or shape-shifting often symbolizes freedom, escape from oppression, and access to the authentic soul. This linocut print is a ceremonial reminder to reclaim your personal power, embrace your wild femininity, and embody the spirit of bird heroines. The design features a loon, snowy owl, cormorant, goose, and swan alongside a woman, celebrating the wild feminine, mythic storytelling, and the transformative power of myth.
